Hepatitis B Vaccine for Type 2 Diabetics

Are you interested in learning how you may be able to prevent getting a Hepatitis B infection?

You may not realize that having Type 2 diabetes puts you at greater risk of contracting Hepatitis B. In fact, in 2011, the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended that all Type 2 patients be vaccinated against Hepatitis B. Clinical Research Associates in Nashville is enrolling people with Type 2 diabetes in a research study. You may receive the Hepatitis B vaccination at no charge.

The study lasts a total of 7 months. Five office visits are required. You will be given a series of 3 vaccinations. You are guaranteed to receive the Hepatitis B vaccine. There are no placebos (inactive ingredients).

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • Be at least 20 years old
  • Have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes within last 5 years
  • Not have had the Hepatitis B vaccine previously

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • People who have already had any dose of the Hepatitis B vaccine are not eligible to participate. In addition, if you've had Type 2 diabetes for over 5 years, you are not eligible.
