A Phase Ib Study to Evaluate Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Clinical Activity of the Oral AKT Inhibitor GSK2110183 Administered in Combination with Bortezomib and Dexamethasone in Subjects with Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma

GSK2110183 is a new drug for treating patients with cancer. As of 25 Feb. 2011, it has only been given to 65 people with different blood cancers, including multiple myeloma. It has not been approved by any government for doctors to prescribe for patients.The purpose of this study is to test what doses of GSK2110183 can be given safely in combination with bortezomib and dexamethasone. Bortezomib (also known as Velcade) is a type of medicine called a proteasome inhibitor and is approved to treat multiple myeloma and certain types of lymphoma. Dexamethasone is a steroid medication that is usually given with bortezomib as a standard practice to improve the treatment results with bortezomib.
