Sister Survivor: Improving the Survivorship Care of African-American Women with Breast Cancer

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a breast cancer survivor, self-identified as being African-American, and are 18 years of age or older. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of a peer navigator (PN) intervention on survivorship outcomes in particular comprehension and adherence to survivorship care plan (SCP) among African-American breast cancer survivors (AABCS). A survivorship care plan consists of two components (1) a treatment summary indicating the cancer diagnosis, history, stage and a list of primary treatments; (2) a follow-up care plan including information on recovery from treatment and the need for ongoing health maintenance or other recommended therapies. Your participation in this study is expected to last 12 months.
