Trial Information

Expression of P16INK4a As a Predictor of Myelosuppression in Patients with Breast Cancer

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are considering a new course of chemotherapy. The purpose of this research study is to measure the association between the expression of a specific protein, p16INK4a (also called p16), and myelosuppression (suppressed or decreased bone marrow activity) due to chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer. Another purpose of this study is to explore whether personal habits (exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption), or health care conditions may be associated with the level of p16 in someone’s blood. Your active participation in the study may last up to 12 months.
