Palliative Care for Quality of Life and Symptom Concerns in Early Stage Lung Cancer

Patient:
Phase I
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you undergoing treatment for lung cancer. The purpose of this study is to gather information that will help researchers design a Palliative Care intervention (PCI) to improve symptom control and quality of life (QOL) in lung cancer patients who cannot be treated with surgery. Your participation in this study is expected to last twelve months for those with Stage I-IIIB disease and 6 months for those with Stage IV disease.
Phase II
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you undergoing treatment for lung cancer. The purpose of this study is to test a Palliative Care intervention (PCI) to improve symptom control and quality of life (QOL) in lung cancer patients who cannot be treated with surgery. Your participation in this study is expected to last six to twelve months based on your disease stage.
Physician:
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a clinician/surgeon who treats patients with lung cancer who are being treated with surgery. The purpose of this study is to test the effects on symptom control and quality of life (QOL) of a Palliative Care intervention for lung cancer patients who are undergoing treatment with surgery. Your participation in this study is expected to last twelve months.
