AMPLIFY- A Safety and Efficacy Trial Evaluating the Use of Apixaban in the Treatment of Symptomatic Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism

Study evaluating the effects of an investigational blood thinner, apixaban, in preventing venous thromboembolic (VTE) recurrence (the formation of presence of a blood clot) or death in patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE) over 6 months. The study involves taking an experimental medicine/placebo and out-patient clinic visits over the course of 6 months. The visits may include: blood draws, ECGs, physical exams, urine samples and pregnancy tests when applicable. Each visit is expected to last approximately 1 hour.
