Research Study Summary

Evaluation of Immune Activation in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Purpose

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease (condition that makes your body attack itself) that causes chronic inflammation (swelling) of the joints. Recent advances in the treatment have improved the quality of life for many people living with the disease. The goal of this study is to look at a certain type of white blood cell in people who have RA. The study is focusing on the immune response (the ability of the body to keep from getting a disease). We will assess this white blood cell by collecting and storing information on the course of your disease over time.

We are looking for men and women, age 18 or older who:

  • Have a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis
  • Are generally healthy

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • HIV positive
  • History of Hepatitis
