Pediatric Asthma Study

The CHASE 2 Study is looking at the effectiveness and safety of different doses of a study medication in treating asthma in children. The study medication, formoterol, must always be given in combination with another medication called budesonide, which is an asthma preventer medicine. All children in this study will receive budesonide. Both formoterol and budesonide are well-known medicines which have been used to treat asthma in adults for many years. Both study medications will be given through an aerosol inhaler. All children will also be given a fast-acting reliever medication which can be taken for their asthma symptoms if it becomes necessary.

Your child may be suitable to take part in the study if they:

  • have been diagnosed with asthma
  • have not been hospitalized for more than 24 hours or required emergency treatment for their asthma during the past 6 months.
