Genetic Epidemiology of Celiac Disease

You have/your child has been asked to participate in this research study because you have/your child has been diagnosed with celiac disease (celiac disease is caused by an intolerance to the protein, gluten, that is found in wheat, rye, and barley) or dermatitis herpetiformis (an itchy skin condition associated with celiac disease) OR you have/your child has a family member who has been diagnosed with celiac disease (CD) or dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) OR are a spouse of a participant who has been diagnosed with celiac disease (CD). The purpose of this study is to increase understanding of the genetic factors associated with celiac disease. Your/your child’s participation in this study is expected to last about one hour and will involve providing a blood sample and completing a questionnaire and medical release form (if applicable). Occasionally, additional information is needed and we may contact you in the future.
