Trial Information

Phase II Study of Paclitaxel for Ovarian Stromal Tumors as First-line and Second-line Therapy

The purpose of this study is to determine whether paclitaxel will cause malignant stromal tumor of the ovary will cause the cancer to completely disappear at all sites and all places where cancer has been detected.

Inclusion criteria:

  • Histologically confirmed ovarian stromal cancer not amenable to surgery
  • Recurrent disease after no more than 1 prior chemotherapy regimen
  • Tumor must be at least 1 cm in diameter
  • ECOG performance status of 0-2
  • WBC at lease 3,000/mm^3
  • Platelet count at least 100,000/mm^3
  • Bilirubin no greater that 1.5 times normal
  • SGOT no greater than 3 times normal
  • Creatinine no greater than 2.0 mg/dL

Exclusion criteria:

  • Pregnancy
  • Other prior invasive malignancy in the past 5 years except non-melanoma skin cancer
