Trial Information

MGH Cardiovascular and Metabolic Patient Cohort Study

The MGH Heart Center is conducting a research study in collaboration with Pfizer and the Broad Institute to better understand the causes of diabetes and heart disease.

You may be eligible to participate if you are between the ages of 30 and 75. Healthy volunteers are eligible to participate.

The study consists of two visits. The first visit can be done in about an hour. We will ask you to fill out a patient questionnaire about your medical history, perform an EKG and draw blood.

The second visit depends on whether you have diabetes. If you do not have diabetes, it will involve a glucose tolerance test, where you are given a sugar solution to drink and we draw blood. If you do have diabetes, it will involve ultrasound tests of your arteries. Either way, the second visit will take approximately 2 1/2 hours.

Participants will receive $25 for the first visit and $50 for the second visit.

You may obtain more information about the study by calling Dr Huang at 617-724-9849 or the CAMP MGH Hotline at 617-643-7111.
