Trial Information
Have you been diagnosed with Multifocal Motor Neuropathy?
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN) is a progressive muscle disorder characterized by muscle weakness in the arms or legs, with one side affected more than the other. The disease is thought to have an immune component and is often treated with immune-modifying therapies. This randomized, double-blind (DB), placebo-controlled, cross-over, multicenter study is being done to examine the effectiveness of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG or IGIV) for the treatment of MMN.
Patient Inclusion Criteria:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Diagnosis of definite or probably MMN
- Must be on a stable regimen of IGIV for at least 3 months, with a treatment interval of 2 to 5 weeks
Patient Exclusion Criteria:
- Treatment with other immunosuppressive agents besides IGIV within 3 months of enrollment or with Rituximab in the past 12 months prior to enrollment
- Any clinical or electrophysiological evidence of coexisting neuropathy which may interfere with outcome assessments
- Current participation or participation in the last 30 days in an investigational drug trial
