The Influence of Gonadal Hormones on Fear Extinction

Dr. Mohammed Milad of the Psychiatry Department at the Massachusetts General Hospital is conducting a research study to investigate the neural mechanisms of emotional learning and memory. Participation in this study requires 3-4 separate visits. The total time commitment for the study will be approximately 6 hours.

Participants will undergo a fear conditioning procedure involving receiving an annoying but not painful, half-second electric current, applied to the fingers. This procedure will be conducted during two separate sessions in an fMRI scanner. Participants will be paid up to $200 for their time. Blood samples will be gathered at different time points of the study.
