Efficacy of Atomoxetine for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in Adolescents and Young Adults with Substance Use Disorders (SUD)

The Pediatric Psychopharmacology Department at the Massachusetts General Hospital is looking for adolescents and young adults, ages 15-30, with symptoms of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) to participate in a research study designed to examine the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug when used to treat adolescents and young adults with ADHD and SUD. Participation in this study involves up to 20 clinic visits over 20 weeks. Subjects will receive cognitive behavioral therapy for 2 to 6 weeks for their substance use, and will then have a 50% chance of taking the study drug or a placebo (sugar pill). Participants will receive study-related medical care and medication at no cost, as well as up to $200 compensation for their time.
