Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH)

Study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a medication in patients with lower urinary symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH)

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • Men 50 years of age with a diagnosis of BPH and clinical signs and symptoms of BPH greater than 6 months
  • PSA greater than 0.8ng/ml between 4 and 10
  • Must have biopsy to rule out cancer

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • History of prostate cancer or PSA greater than 10
  • Prior prostate or bladder surgery, pelvic surgery, pelvic radiation
  • Taking testosterone, Class IA, or Class II antiarrhythmic medications
  • 5 ARI medications
  • Alpha blockers (6 week wash out)
  • History of Urethral Stricture, bladder stones or neurogenic bladder
  • Urinary Retention
