Carbohydrate: Amount and Type Affecting Risk for CVD and Diabetes
Are you interested in lowering your blood pressure and/or blood sugar without medication?
OMNICarb is a research study about how your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar are affected by what you eat. We provide meals for 21 weeks. There are four 5 week feeding periods with 2 week breaks between each feeding period.
You may be eligible to earn up to $1900 if you:
•Are over the age of 30
•Are willing to change your eating habits, and eat the meals that we provide
•Have normal or mildly elevated blood pressure
•Do not take medications for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol
•Are willing to come to our facility at 221 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA, Monday through Friday for one meal a day during the feeding periods
Participants will undergo 3 screening appointments, which can take up to 4 weeks.
After the screening process, the study will take approximately 6 months to complete with feeding periods and breaks. Study participants will undergo five OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) tests - one at the beginning of the study and one at the end of each of the 4 feeding periods along with other study measurements.
