Low Back Pain

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of different doses of an investigational medication given by IV compared to a marketed oral medication versus placebo (an inactive substance) for the treatment of chronic low back pain. The study will last approximately 28 weeks with 8 visits to our off and an optional extension up to 1 year. At the first visit you will read and sign an informed consent and have your blood pressure and medical history taken, answer questionnaires and lab work done. All treatment groups, including the placebo group, are allowed to use acetaminophen during the study as an additional pain medication. There is no charge for visits or study medication and you will be compensated $40 per visit if you do not complete the study.
