Detection of Human Beta Cell Death in T1DM Methylation-Specific PCR

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes or because you are a normal, healthy adult who is a matched control (a person of the same gender and general age) for a diabetic subject enrolled in this study. The purpose of this study is to develop a new test for detecting and monitoring type 1 diabetes. Your participation in this study is expected to last for one year if you are a diabetic subject. During this time, you may be asked to provide 15 total blood draws. For matched control subjects, you will be asked to provide one blood sample total.
