Trial Information

Eye infection: Itchy eyelid, foreign body sensation, ocular dryness, burning or pain, and swollen or heavy eyelids?

This study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Azithromycin Ophthalmic Solution, 1% versus a placebo

Inclusion Criteria

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Best corrective visual acuity of 20/100 or better
  • Diagnosis of blepharits in one or both eyes
  • Willing to discontinue contact lenses for the duration of the trial

Exclusion Criteria

  • Lid structural abnormalities, e.g. entropion or ectropion
  • Have used Accutane
  • Have had penetrating intraocular surgery within 90 days of visit 2
  • History of herpatic keratitis
  • Have a known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any other macrolide antibiotic
