Research Participants Wanted for A Study Of Brain Function in Parents of Children with Burn Injuries

Dr. Lisa Shin of the Psychiatry Department at the Massachusetts General Hospital is conducting a research study to examine brain function in parents of children with burn injuries. Some of these parents may have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The entire study will take 4-5 hours and will involve a brief diagnostic interview, filling out questionnaires, and making simple judgments about words or photographs while “pictures” of your brain are taken using positron emission tomography (PET) and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Only individuals without pacemakers, aneurysm clips, or other metallic objects in the head and upper body are eligible for MRI. Participants will be paid $150 for their time.

If you are right-handed, between the ages of 18-45, a parent of a child with burn injuries, and are interested in this study, please contact Dr. Lisa Shin at 617-726-8120.
