Bipolar Depression - Adults

People with bipolar depression are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by Montefiore Medical Center.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are male or female 18 to 65 years of age
  • Have had a verified previous manic, hypomanic, or mixed episode
  • Are a female of childbearing potential who is not pregnant
  • Are not morbidly obese (as measured by a body mass index [BMI} from 18 through 40)

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have experienced eight to more episodes of a mood disturbance (depression, mania, hypomania, or mixed state) within the past 12 months
  • Have a history of alcohol or substance abuse or dependence (other than nicotine or caffeine) within the past 6 months
  • Test positive (at the first study visit) from the urine drug screen test for alcohol or prohibited medications
