Trial Information

A study to prevent the reoccurrence of diverticulitis.

This study will examine the study drug in all patients with diverticulitis that has resulted in at least one episode of diverticulosis within the past 24 months. The primary purpose of the study is to compare the time that the study drugs can prevent an episode of recurrence of diverticulitis (although there is no guarantee that a recurrence of diverticulitis will be prevented).

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patient must have at least one documented attack of acute diverticulitis in the previous 24 months that has been clinically resolved with colonic resection. Documentation must include a verifiable report confirming acute diverticulitis (ex: CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound, endoscopy of the sigmoid colon)
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • female and pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast feeding
  • Past history of colo-rectal surgery (excluding removal of colon polyps
