Genetics: Volunteers Needed for a Genetics Study
Researchers at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center are conducting a clinical research study of patients or family members of patients with
Palizaeus-Merzbacher Disease and Spastic Parapareses. These are diseases of the brain and nerves causing difficulty walking and leg stiffness. The purpose of this study is to look at how people inherit, carry or pass on the genes for these conditions and establish a DNA bank for genetic studies.
Participants may qualify if they:
- are between the ages of 0 and 60;
- have been diagnosed with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher; or
- have been diagnosed with Spastic Parapareses.
