Are You a Type 2 Diabetic and Your Current Medications Are Just Not Enough?
You are invited to participate in a research study to further assess the safety and effectiveness of Welchol used as an add-on therapy to pioglitazone or pioglitazone in combination with either metformin or sulfonylurea in treating Type 2 Diabetes. Welchol has been shown to improve blood sugar control in people with Type 2 Diabetes who have inadequate glucose control while receiving other antidiabetic medications. If eligible you will receive, at no cost to you, the investigational medication, related physical exams and lab tests and diet counseling. You may also receive compensation for your participation!
Inclusion criteria: To participate you must be at least 18 years of age with a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes and have inadequate glycemic control on a stable dose of your current antidiabetic medication. Other than your Type 2 Diabetes, you must be clinically stable in regard to your medical conditions. Call our recruitment nurse to see if you qualify!
Exclusionary criteria include: history of Type 1 Diabetes; history of bowel obstruction, dysphagia, swallowing disorders, other gastrointestinal motility disorders or major GI surgery; history of insulin use for greater than two weeks duration during the previous three months or a total of greater than two months insulin therapy any time prior to screening.
