A Randomized Double-Blind Parallel Study of Rabeprazole Extended Release 50 mg Versus Esomeprazole 40 mg for Healing and Symptomatic Relief of Mild to Moderate Erosive Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

The purpose of this study is to compare Rabeprazole Extended-Release (ER) 50 mg to Esomeprazole 40 mg and see how effective they are in healing erosions of the esophagus and providing symptom relief after 4 or 8 weeks of treatment.

Patient Inclusion Criteria:
  • Have had GERD symptoms for the past 3 months
  • Are between the ages of 18 and 75
  • Are willing and able to complete a daily diary

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • Unstable diabetes
  • Diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Required use of daily anti-inflammatory drugs, oral steroids, or asprin
