Reduce Cardiovascular Events in Patients at Moderate Risk of Cardiovascular Disease
The purpose of the study is to assess the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of a drug in patients at moderate risk of cardiovascular events
Patient Inclusion Criteria
Inclusion Criteria for males:
Males aged 50 yrs or old
- Elevated cholesterol
- Current smoker( cannot be the only risk factor to qualify for the study)
- Low HDL cholesterol
- Current treatment for HBP
- Positive family history of early CHD, by first degree relative, suffered myocardial infarction before the age of 60
Inclusion Criteria for Female:
Females aged 60 and above with 3 or more risk factors
- Elevated cholesterol
- Current smoker
- Low HDL cholesterol
- Elevated Bp
- Current treatment for hbp
- Positive family history of early CHD, by first degree relative, suffered myocardial infarction before the age of 60
Patient Exclusion Criteria
- Clinically history of CVD, MI, stroke, coronary artery or angioplasty or stenting, coronary artery bypass graft, relevant arrhythmias, or congestive heart failure.
- Diabetes
- Any medical condition, or psychiatric or substance abuse
- Child bearing women
- Gastric or duodenal ulcer, genitourinary causes, or other bleeding disorders
- Reflux esophagitis
- On NSAIDS
