Do You Have High LDL (BAD) Cholesterol? Men and women of at least 18 years of age with high cholesterol may qualify to participate in a research study to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of an investigational cholesterol-lowering medication.
The Billings Clinic Research Center is conducting a research study to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of an investigational cholesterol-lowering medication. Men and women of at least 18 years of age with high cholesterol may qualify. If you qualify you will receive study-related medication, a study-related physical examination and study-related laboratory tests at no cost to you.
Patient Inclusion Criteria
Men and women at least 18 years of age or older with high cholesterol levels either not receiving or willing and able to discontinue ongoing lipid-lowering therapy. LDL-C levels greater than or equal to 130 mg/dL.
Patient Exclusion Criteria
Triglyceride levels greater than 350 mg/dL; active liver disease; estimated high risk of coronary heart disease; positive test for Hepatitis B surface antigen and/or Hepatitis C antibody or HIV; pregnant or breast-feeding women; hypersensitivity to any component of atorvastatin (Lipitor).
