CIBMRT 05-DCB: A Phase II Multicenter Trial of Myeloablative Double Unit Umbilical Cord Blood Transplantation (UCBT) in Adults with Hematologic Malignancy

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have acute leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome (cancer of the blood and/or bone marrow) that is at high risk of returning.  The main purpose of this research is to find out how good a cord blood transplant using two cord blood units is in terms of the number of subjects who survive one year after transplant.  Your treatment on this study is expected to last several months.  After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will continue to be followed until at least two years after your transplant.
