A Random Assignment Phase II Study of Modified Docetaxel, Cisplatin, and Fluorouacil (mDCF) versus Parent DCF with Growth Factor Support in Patients with Unresectable or Metastatic Gastric and Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma
You are being asked to take part in this study because you have advanced gastric (stomach) or gastroesophageal junction (also known as GEJ, the area where the esophagus opens into the stomach) cancer that cannot be removed by surgery or has spread and you have not received chemotherapy treatment for your advanced disease. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the chemotherapy combination of docetaxel, cisplatin and fluorouracil given in doses and according to a schedule studied previously and given in doses and according to a schedule designed to lessen the side effects of the drugs. The effectiveness of each of the 2 combinations will be studied and tolerance will be compared. Your treatment on this study is expected to last for as long as your tumor is not growing and you are not having any unmanageable side effects. After your treatment is complete your condition will be followed indefinitely.
