Trial Information
Effect of Differentiation Status and Tissue Specificity of Graft Cells on Graft-Versus-Host Disease Following Allogeneic Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation
Donor
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are going to be a donor for someone receiving an allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplant (PBSCT, stem cell transplant from a donor) who is at risk of developing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). The purpose of this study is to study samples of stem cell grafts and blood to improve methods of predicting which transplant patients may be at higher risk of developing GVHD. Your participation involves having a small portion (2-3 ml, one teaspoonful) of the stem cell graft you donated remove for use in this research study.
Recipient
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are undergoing an allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplant (stem cell transplant from a donor) and are at risk of developing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). The purpose of this study is to study samples of stem cell grafts and blood to improve methods of predicting which transplant patients may be at higher risk of developing GVHD. Your participation in this study is expected to last for 1 year, during which blood will be drawn up to 6 times depending when during the first year after your transplant you enter this study. During the first year after your transplant and for an additional five years, information about your medical condition will be collected for the sake of this study from your medical records.
