Pilot Study of High-Dose Chemotherapy with Busulfan, Melphalan, and Topotecan Followed by Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant in Advanced Stage and Recurrent Tumors

You have/your child has been asked to participate in this research study because you/your child have/has one of the following diseases:

A.            Neuroblastoma

B.            Rhabdomyosarcoma

C.            Ewing’s Sarcoma

D.            Peripheral Neuroendocrine Tumor (PNET)

E.             Soft Tissue Sarcoma

F.             Osteomesenchymoma

G.            Other tumors with high-risk of relapse

 

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the feasibility (how easy or hard it is to give) and side effects of giving the chemotherapy drugs Topotecan, Busulfan, and Melphalan before transplant of hematopoietic stem cells (immature cells that can become blood cells) in the treatment of advanced stage and recurrent solid tumors.  Your/your child’s participation in this research study is expected to last two months, unless major complications occur. After your/your child’s treatment on this study is over, your/your child’s medical condition will be followed indefinitely.
