A Washington University ALS research study seeks participants! 

Detailed Study Description

The purpose of this study is to create a large repository of cells for ALS gene identification. Healthy participants will complete 2 visits approximately 1 hour in length (3 months apart). ALS participants will complete 5 study visits approximately 1 hour in length (3 months apart).

All participants will complete a blood draw, medical history, and environmental history questionnaires. There is also an optional lumbar puncture.

Participants with ALS will also have a neurological exam, vital capacity and strength tests, as well as additional questionnaires. Benefits and risks will be discussed with volunteers as part of the informed consent process.

For healthy participants, a 50 dollar gift card will be provided by Washington University for time and effort. ALS participants who complete study visits outside of their regularly scheduled clinic appointments will also receive a 50 dollar gift card from Washington University. (IRB # 201511036)
