Do you treat your Type 2 Diabetes with Metformin alone?

Detailed Study Description

We are currently seeking volunteers who are diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and treating with Metformin alone (1500mg or more a day, or max-tolerated dose). This is a study of an investigational, oral medication that may help to improve blood sugar levels. Participants will continue taking their Metformin, and be randomly placed into one of 4 different groups: Out of every 4 participants, 2 will receive the investigational medication, 1 will receive Glimepiride, and 1 will receive placebo. Participants will need to check their blood sugars 4-8 times a day.

Other Details:

Study Length: 58 weeks, with 11 clinic visits.
Target Age: 18+ years old.
Benefits: Participants will receive the following at no cost: study medication; study-related physical exams, EKG’s, and lab work; a glucose meter; test strips and other supplies.
Stipend: $50 for completion of each clinic visit ($550 total).
