Type 2 Diabetes - Cardiovascular Health

Detailed Study Description

A research study is evaluating an investigational medication for cardiovascular health in patients with type 2 diabetes.

This research study may be an option if you:

  • Are at least 40 years of age
  • Have an HbA1c of 7.0-10.5%
  • Have a history of atherosclerosis including at least one of the following: coronary artery disease, heart attack, stroke, peripheral arterial disease
  • Have not undergone any cardiovascular surgery in the last 3 months
  • Do not have type 1 diabetes or ketoacidosis
  • Do not consume more than 2 alcoholic drinks per day
  • Are not on any weight-loss programs or weight-loss medications, and have not had bariatric surgery in the last year
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of at least 18. Find out your BMI here

Other criteria apply. Please make sure to discuss with a member of our research staff to ensure this research study is a good fit for you. Your full participation on or off study drug is critical to the success of the study. The study will last until approximately 2019. If you decide to stop taking study drug, we ask that you agree to, at minimum, one final end of study phone call.

Qualified participants will receive all study-related care and study medication or placebo at no cost.
