SER-C-001: Stool Collection Program

Brief description of study

SER-C-001: Stool Collection Program

Detailed Study Description

The primary objective of this program is to collect stool from medically screened healthy volunteers for use in clinical development of investigational products. Stool donations will be evaluated by Seres for microbial content. If a donor has a favorable microbiome, the donor will be medically screened. Once a donor has passed the medical screen, he/she will be asked to give an average of 4 donations per week at the donation collection facility, provided they maintain adequate health.

The donations collected in this program will be used to manufacture an investigational oral microbiome therapeutic for the prevention of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) in adults with multiply recurrent CDI. CDI is one of the top three most urgent antibiotic-resistant bacterial threats in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control. It is the leading cause of hospital-acquired infection in the United States and is responsible for the deaths of approximately 29,000 Americans each year.
