Washington University seeks older adults to participate in an exercise research study.

Detailed Study Description

The purpose of the study is to determine whether lowering systolic blood pressure and cholesterol, alone or in combination with aerobic exercise, can improve memory function of the brain in older adults at higher risk for developing dementia. This study will last 2 years. There are outpatient visits (2-5 hours each) blood draws, questionnaires, thinking and memory assessments, MRI, and exercise stress tests. Exercise will take place at a community exercise facility and will be supervised by a personal trainer. Up to $250.00 is provided for time and effort. Possible risks and benefits will be discussed as part of the informed consent process (IRB # 201607110).
