Center Overview
Our center is an independent clinical research facility based in San Diego. ARI conducts outpatient trials with an emphasis in Psychiatry, Neurology and Dermatology. We have successfully completed trials for Alzheimer's Disease, Vascular Dementia, Anxiety, Panic, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorders, Post Traumatic Disorder, Epilepsy, Social Phobia, Depression, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Acne, Psoriasis, Rosacea, Atopic Dermatitis, Wound healing and Onychomycosis.

Clinical Research Experience
ARI has been involved in clinical research studies since 1994. We focus on Phase II, III and IV trials for adults and children. The leader of our investigative team has over 25 years experience conducting clinical trials. Our clinical research staff adhere to ARI Standard Operating Procedures that are in compliance with ICH guidelines and FDA regulations. Our staff has been trained in inter-rater reliability and Good Clinical Practices (GPCs).
Our board certified dermatologist has experience in the following therapeutic areas: Psoriasis, Acne, Rosacea, Onychomycosis, Wound Healing, Eczema, Atinic Karatosis, Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Contact Dermatitis. In addition our Dermatologist specializes in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Skin Cancer Treatments, Facial Rejuvenation, Botox Injections, Chemical Peels, Laser Treatments, Microdermabrasion, Sclerotherapy, Cosmetic Surgery, tumescent liposuction, eyelid and face-lift surgery.
ARI has conducted over 100 CNS clinical trials! The staff consists of 5 CCRCs, 2 CRCs and a full-time laboratory tech and two Clinical Managers.

Facility Description
The site is centrally located in Mission Valley, close to the Marriott and the Trolley Station. Our facility is located near all major highways and the airport. Our site has adequate parking and is easily accessible using public transportation. Volunteers will enjoy the comfort of a professional medical environment where confidentiality is respected and maintained. Our laboratory is in compliance with OSHA requirements and provides our staff and volunteers with a safe place to perform procedures. Sponsor representatives will enjoy a comfortable and quiet environment to work.

Investigator Experience
Psychiatry and Neurology: Charles H. Merideth, M.D.
Charles Merideth, M.D. has been conducting clinical trials since 1974. He has participated in over 160 trials and has over 15 publications. Dr. Merideth attended Washington University School of Medicine and interned in medicine at Michael Reese Hospital. He did his residency in Psychiatry at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, followed by several positions in hospitals and private practice before founding ARI in 1994. He currently serves as Principal Investigator and Medical Director/CEO of Affiliated Research Institute.
Dermatology: Walter K. Nahm, M.D., PH.D.
Walter K. Nahm, M.D., Ph.D. is a board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Nahm completed his dermatology specialty training at Boston University School of Medicine/Roger Williams Medical Center, where he was honored as chief resident. Dr. Nahm specializes in the Mohs Micrographic Surgery technique, which is the most precise and effective manner to treat skin cancer. His other specialties include laser and cosmetic surgery. As a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, he has expertise in tumescent liposuction and eyelid and face-lift surgery. In addition, Dr. Nahm has extensive experience in laser therapy for wrinkles, brown spots, blood vessels, birthmarks and vascular anomalies. Other areas of expertise include Botox®, injectable fillers (e.g., Resylane®, Radiesse, Hylaform® and Capitque), fat transfer, chemical skin rejuvenation, leg vein treatment (sclerotherapy) and acne scar treatment. He has performed extensive research on intense pulsed light (IPL) technology and the TermaCool device (allowing for the non-surgical facelift) and was recently honored for his work.

Staff Expertise
ARI staff adheres to documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that follow Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. Our Clinical Research Coordinators and Sub investigators have completed formal, annual Inter-Rater Reliability training on psychiatric and neurologic ratings scales frequently used in CNS clinical trials.

Patient Demographics
ARI works with patient volunteers from the local communities. Our strong relations with psychiatrists, psychologists, internists, general practitioners, social workers and dermatologists comprise our Professional Research Network (PRN). We also advertise our current studies on the radio and television and these efforts continue to draw new patient populations to research.

ARI conducts internal Quality Management audits and Quantity through rapid IRB approval, regulatory and ING submissions as well as appropriate volunteer recruitment.
